Το ντοκιμαντέρ διερευνά τη σχέση ανάµεσα στην εμπειρία του Δεύτερου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου και τον χώρο της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων, όπως τον βίωσαν οι λιγοστοί Έλληνες Εβραίοι επιζώντες του Ολοκαυτώματος. Η επιστημονική ευθύνη του έργου, η έρευνα και το σενάριο είναι της Επίκουρης Καθηγήτριας Μουσειολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων, Έσθηρ Σολομών, και η κινηματογραφική και εικαστική, του σκηνοθέτη Νίκου Χρυσικάκη.
Τα βασικά στοιχεία για τον σχεδιασμό της αφίσας προήρθαν από την πρωτογενή έρευνα (15 ετών, 2009 - 2024) και βασίζονται σε 2 ευρήματα. Έναν χάρτη σχεδιασμένο το 1940 και μια αεροφωτογραφία της Λουφτβάφε του επόμενου έτους. Στοιχεία που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν αργότερα, τον Μάρτιο του 1944 από τους Ναζί κατακτητές με στόχο την εξόντωση του (τελικά) 95% των Εβραίων Ρωμανιωτών των Ιωαννίνων. Το ντοκιμαντέρ περιγράφει και στηρίζεται σε μαρτυρίες με βάση την τοπογραφία του κάστρου των Ιωάννινων.

“Lost Yannina: A Topography of Jewish Memory”
The documentary explores the relationship between the experience of the Second World War and the urban space of the city of Ioannina, as lived by the few Greek Jewish Holocaust survivors. The academic supervision of the project, research and script is by Assistant Professor of Museology at the University of Ioannina, Esther Solomon, while the film’s direction and visual concept are by Nikos Chrysikakis.
The main design elements for the poster are drawn from primary research conducted over fifteen years (2009–2024) and are based on two findings: a map drawn in 1940 and an aerial photograph by the Luftwaffe from the following year.
These were later used by the Nazi occupiers in March 1944 to carry out the extermination of 95% of Ioannina’s Romaniote Jewish population.The documentary is grounded in personal testimonies, structured around the topography of the Ioannina castle area.
In addition to the core visual identity, the opening titles of the documentary were also designed in alignment with this concept.
